Baron De Ley Reserva Siete Viñas is a unique and ambitious project from the renowned Rioja producer, aiming to capture the essence of the region’s winemaking tradition and biodiversity. This wine is a “slow Rioja,” created as a homage to the diversity of grape varieties native to Rioja. Crafted from a blend of seven grape varieties—Tempranillo, Graciano, Garnacha Tinta, Mazuelo, Viura, Malvasía, and Garnacha Blanca—it represents a comprehensive expression of the region’s viticultural heritage. The grapes are sourced from a single vineyard over 70 years old, where these varieties grow side by side, contributing to the wine’s complexity and depth.
The vinification process involves four separate vinifications of the seven varieties, each undergoing different temperatures and maturation times. Afterward, the wines age separately for 36 months in various types of casks tailored to each variety. The final blend then matures for an additional 12 months in French-oak foudres within the Bodega del Monasterio, ensuring a wine with balanced tannins, rich nuances, and a harmonious integration of fruit and oak.
