Dupont Moinette Blonde
This is a complex blonde ale with a fruity nose (yellow fruit), enhanced by citrus aromas (orange) and spices (clove). On the palate, there is a nice balance between bitterness and sweetness. The result is a wonderfully dense ale that is also delightfully light. Best served at cellar temperature (12°C), as an aperitif or to accompany dishes like the famous “Lapin à la Moinette”, asparagus or our Moinette Jeune and Moinette Vieux cheeses.
The Brasserie Dupont’s flagship product in the Belgian market: the Moinette! This beer was created in 1955.
Where does its name come from? To find out, we need to go back to Tourpes in the 1900s. The Cense de la Moinette stands on the family estate. The name refers to the shifting ground around it. The name “Moinette” is a corruption of the old French “moëne”, meaning “swamp”, a very common feature in the region at the time.
